Our Beginning
We got tired of choosing between shoes that look good and shoes that last.
Every brand seemed to fall into one of two camps: the cold, clinical performance shoe engineered in a lab for efficiency — or the overhyped streetwear drop that falls apart at the seams after six months. Neither felt like enough.
Solera started as a frustration and became a practice. We spent three years talking to cobblers in Portugal, tanneries in Italy, and independent makers across Europe — learning what separates footwear that ages beautifully from footwear that ages badly. The answer was simpler than we expected: material honesty and unhurried construction.
"A great shoe shouldn't announce itself. It should just quietly be the best thing in the room."
We are not a sustainability startup. We are not a VC-backed disruption play. Solera is a small company that makes a small number of shoes, as well as we know how, for people who notice the difference. Full stop.
